Temporary housing and individualized support for women already on the path to independence — helping them access employment, learn to manage a budget, and prepare calmly for their move into permanent housing.
Our Goal for 2026-2027
Complete the renovation of the building made available to us, furnish the units, and secure a sustainable operating model.
We're not just creating a bridge house — we're building the link between recovery and lasting independence.
Some of the women supported by Ya Tchegbo have completed training or found a job opportunity. The lack of affordable, secure housing in Cotonou can then stall their reintegration.
La Maison Passerelle will be able to house 3 to 4 women at a time, for up to three months, giving them time to be closer to their job or training, live safely during the transition, receive support with their administrative steps, and build up savings to prepare their move into independent housing.
The goal is simple: not just to help a woman leave violence behind, but to give her the means to build a stable, independent life.

The Maison Passerelle project represents a total projected budget of 13,320,000 FCFA, or about €20,300, split across four areas:
1. Renovating the Premises
The premises made available to us free of charge need significant work: masonry, plumbing, electrical work, ventilation, sanitation, securing entry points, and improving hygiene conditions.
2. Furniture and Equipment
Furniture, kitchen and bathroom fittings, computer equipment — for a dignified, functional, and secure environment.
3. Support and Operations
Human resources and operating costs needed for social follow-up, coordination, security, and the day-to-day running of this step toward independence.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation
Tools to track beneficiaries' progress and their transitions to independence.
Materials, furniture, appliances, equipment, skills-based sponsorship, or volunteer work sessions: some needs can be met directly.
Every donation, whatever the amount, contributes to a concrete step in building La Maison Passerelle.
The primary beneficiaries will be women survivors of violence supported by Ya Tchegbo, along with their children when they accompany them on their journey.
The Maison Passerelle project is led by Ya Tchegbo, an association active in Benin since 2016 in the fight against violence against women and in supporting women survivors of gender-based violence.
Le projet Maison Passerelle est porté collectivement par les équipes de Ya Tchegbo : coordination, assistantes sociales, psychologue, éducatrices spécialisées et équipes des centres, qui participeront
à l’orientation, au suivi et à l’accompagnement des femmes accueillies.
La Maison Passerelle has also been made possible thanks to two housing units provided free of charge by a supporter.
The project relies on volunteers, local partners, and professionals mobilized through volunteer work sessions and skills-based sponsorship.
