Past suffering, standing future
Yatchegbo is a Franco-Beninese association founded in 2016 at the initiative of Karine Bonnifait, alongside a committed team of volunteers. Officially recognized in Benin since 2017, the association takes its name from Fon, a language of Benin, where "Yatchegbo" means "my suffering is behind me".
Our mission is to shelter, protect, and support women survivors of violence, along with their children, to foster their lasting recovery and social and professional reintegration.
Why ?
When facing violence against women, securing safety is often the first step in a path toward recovery.
In Benin, adult women survivors of violence have long lacked specialized housing solutions to protect themselves and begin the process of reintegration.
Working alongside existing services and partner organizations, the association supports each woman through every stage of her journey: psychological support, social and educational guidance, access to legal rights, medical follow-up, and professional integration.

The goal is to help every woman we shelter gradually regain her independence and build a lasting life plan.
