Our Housing Centers
Ya Tchegbo operates two complementary centers, each designed to meet the different stages of the journey faced by women survivors of violence and their children. Their locations are deliberately kept confidential to guarantee the safety of the people we shelter.
Emergency Shelter Center (CHU)
The CHU is the first step in providing shelter. It allows women survivors of violence and their children to be received quickly in a secure environment. During their stay — three months, renewable — women receive housing and support for their essential needs: food, healthcare, schooling for their children, and daily assistance. This time allows them to regain a stable footing and calmly prepare for the next stage of their journey.
Housing and Social Reintegration Center (CHRS)
The CHRS offers a longer-term setting — six months, renewable — allowing women to continue their journey toward independence. It provides a space to build their capacity and gradually prepare for their departure from the program. Training, income-generating activities, and support in building a professional and economic plan help each woman prepare the conditions for a lasting, independent life beyond the shelter.

Because recovery happens gradually, Ya Tchegbo supports each woman through different stages, from emergency shelter to preparing for an independent life.
Ya Tchegbo supports each woman through 4 progressive stages:
Shelter and Recovery
From the moment they arrive, women and their children are welcomed into a secure environment tailored to their needs. This first stage allows them to put distance between themselves and the violence they've experienced, regain a stable footing, and receive social, psychological, medical, and legal support.
Gradually, they regain their bearings, rebuild their confidence, and begin to picture the next stage of their journey.
Progressivement, elles retrouvent leurs repères, reprennent confiance en elles et peuvent commencer à se projeter dans la suite de leur parcours.
Empowerment and Exit Preparation
Once safe, each woman is supported in building a plan tailored to her situation and aspirations.
Vocational training, income-generating activities, and job-search support help develop her skills and economic independence.
The goal is to gradually prepare for a lasting exit from the program — toward housing, employment, and a more independent life.
